About Mercy Radiology - Nuclear Medicine
Mercy Radiology is a brand-new state-of-the-art nuclear imaging facility based in Takapuna, Auckland.
We are a specialist diagnostic imaging service with a particularly innovative, collaborative outlook.
The service was set up by Dr Hament Pandya, Consultant Radiologist in August 2013 in order to enhance and improve patients access to high quality radionuclide imaging (scintigraphy). Dr Pandya has received training in both nuclear medicine and radiology.
After permanently moving to New Zealand in 2008, Dr Pandya played a key role in introducing specialist nuclear imaging (in the form of PETCT) to almost half of all New Zealanders.
Dr Pandya felt that there was a relative lack of specialist provision of services when it came to other types of nuclear imaging such as bone scans, liver / gallbladder (hepatobiliary) scans, renal imaging amongst others. He felt that this had resulted in a lack of awareness of the significant benefits that nuclear imaging can bring to diagnosis when integrated with the other mainstream imaging techniques including MRI, CT, Ultrasound, plain radiography etc.
Our goal is to provide a highly specialised diagnostic imaging service which fully integrates both advanced molecular (nuclear) imaging and diagnostic radiology to enhance the quality of care delivered to patients.
