Bladder Cancer

Bladder cancer most often occurs in the cells lining the bladder. Tumours develop in the bladder and can eventually spread to other organs if not treated. For diagnosis, medical and family history is taken, along with physical exams and various tests. Tests include

urine tests

digital rectal exams

as well as imaging tests including

cystoscopy

CT

and

MRI

scans,

ultrasounds

and

intravenous pyelogram

. If a tumour is present,

urologists

,

oncologists

and

surgeons

will treat the patient. Treatments can involve

chemotherapy

or

radiation therapy

immunotherapy

and surgery.
