Rest Homes & Hospitals

Residential care for elderly who are unable to live independently. Referrals may be made through ACC, Ministry of Health and privately. The first step is to have a needs assessment (see NASC below). There are four levels of residential care - rest home care, hospital, dementia care and specialist hospital/psychogeriatric care. There is a wide range of facilities and services available, so it is wise to identify the features you would like, visit a shortlist of facilities and review each facilities Admission Agreement so that you can make an informed choice.
