Breast Surgery

Breast Surgery encompasses a variety of procedures and two surgical specialists: Breast Surgeons and Plastic Surgeons. Plastic Surgeons do not treat breast disease but many do work together with Breast Surgeons to perform breast reconstruction at the time of a mastectomy, or later, when adjuvant treatments are concluded. Plastic Surgeons also perform Cosmetic Breast procedures e.g. breast reduction, breast lift, and breast augmentation. In men, gynaecomastia correction is provided.

Cosmetic Breast Surgery

Surgery that modifies, corrects or improves the appearance of the breasts. Including breast reduction, breast lift, and breast augmentation. In men, gynaecomastia correction is provided.

Cosmetic Nasal Surgery / Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty commonly called a ‘nose job’, is facial plastic surgery to repair or reshape the nose. As well as changing the shape for cosmetic reasons (to achieve a better appearance), it can correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve breathing problems.

Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic Surgery modifies, corrects or improves the appearance of a physical feature, irregularity or defect.

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Plastic & Reconstructive surgery involves the restoration, correction or improvement in the shape and appearance of the body structures that are defective or damaged at birth or by injury, disease, growth or development. It includes all aspects of cosmetic surgery. Plastic Surgeons treat Craniofacial anomalies such as cleft lip and palate; cancer of the skin, and head and neck; burns; trauma (especially facial and hand); breast reconstruction; chronic wounds etc.

Facial Plastic Surgery

Facial plastic surgery includes cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Corrects impairments caused by burns; traumatic injuries, such as facial bone fractures and breaks; abnormalities present at birth, such as cleft palates or cleft lips; developmental abnormalities; infection and disease; and cancer or tumours. Also includes rhytidectomy or ‘facelift’, involving removing wrinkles and sagging from the face; browplasty, a ‘brow lift’ or ‘forehead lift’, which lifts eyebrows and smoothens forehead skin; and midface lift or ‘cheek lift’, which involves tightening of the cheeks.

Body Contour / Liposuction

Body Contouring is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves the removal of fat from many areas of the body e.g. abdomen, thighs, buttocks, neck, backs of the arms. The process of doing this is called Liposuction or Lipoplasty.

Paediatric Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery for children, including cleft lip and palate, craniofacial surgery, burns and scar revision and prominent ears.

Hand & Wrist Surgery

Hand & Wrist surgery is undertaken by an Orthopaedic Surgeon or a Plastic Surgeon. Hand surgeons perform a wide variety of operations including reconstruction after injuries, rheumatoid deformities and congenital defects (those present at birth).

Head & Neck Surgery

Plastic surgeons, general surgeons and ear nose and throat specialists can provide head and neck surgery. Plastic surgeons may assist with burns, reconstructive surgery, scar revision and skin cancer.

Skin Cancer

Including removal of melanoma and other skin cancers and reconstruction, including nose, ear, eyelids. Also lesion removal.
