about Dr Nicholas De Giorgio-Miller
Mr deGiorgio undertook his medical training at the University of Bristol, England before completing his foundation years in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital, UK. He relocated to New Zealand in 2008 and has worked throughout the country as a registrar in training.
After completing his Orthopaedic training in 2019, he took up a Locum Orthopaedic Consultant role at Wellington Regional Hospital / Kenepuru hospital. During this year his focus was primarily hip and knee arthroplasty as well as general trauma as part of the on-call service. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in Middlemore Hospital in Hand Surgery. From 2021-2022, he undertook a fellowship in shoulder, knee and sports knee at the Northland Orthopaedic Centre, Whangarei. This was in tandem with a locum Consultant role at the public hospital in Whangarei.
Mr deGiorgio has, over the past 3 years, provided Locum Consultant services to the Wairarapa Hospital and joined permanently in August 2022. He has taken on a new role with links to Wellington Hospital enhancing his own continuing medical education and collegial relationships with a view to improving the Orthopaedic service to the people of the Wairarapa. He takes an active role in training Orthopaedic registrars and junior doctors.
