About Dr Simon Chong
Mr Simon Chong is a fully qualified plastic surgeon, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2014. Simon received his core specialist training in Auckland, Melbourne and Hamilton. Following this, he completed 18 months of subspecialty fellowship at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney, mentored by world class surgeons in hand, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. During that time, he tutored microsurgery for the University of Sydney Master of Surgery programme, and conducted award winning research. Simon is currently appointed as a Consultant Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon at Waikato Hospital and Thames Hospital. He is the current Supervisor of Training for plastic surgery in the Waikato region and sits on the New Zealand Board of Plastic Reconstructive Surgery.
Simon provides care across the broad scope of plastic and aesthetic surgery. He has particular interests in skin cancer and melanoma surgery, all aspects of acute and elective hand surgery, breast reduction and reconstruction, abdominoplasty, and the myriad applications of perforator and microsurgical techniques. His friendly and relaxed consultation style belies a commitment to fine detail, individually tailored care, and technical perfectionalism.
