Adam Greenbaum qualified as a doctor in 1987 from the Medical College of St Bartholomews Hospital in London. By then he had decided on a Plastic Surgery career and had successfully completed a student elective in Chicago. He trained generally in surgery rst and undertook original research in microsurgery and muscle aps, for which he was awarded a PhD from the University of London and one of the few prestigious Hunterian Professorships awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997. Throughout this period, he regularly assisted and learned from Harley Street Plastic Surgeons in their aesthetic practices.
He completed his specialist training in Plastic Surgery in Essex, Manchester, Preston and Glasgow including time on an Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship during which he visited Dallas to learn in more detail about face lift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and body contouring from 4 of the worlds nest aesthetic surgeons - after which he was elected to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery as an International Active Member and has served on the societys International Committee since 2005.
In London, Adam held NHS consultant posts at Guys, St Thomass and Kings College Hospitals and a joint appointment to St Johns Institute for Dermatology and was in private practice at the Harley Street Clinic. Adam developed a particular interest in skin cancer surgery, jointly ran the melanoma clinic and the post Mohs surgery reconstructive service for South East London and a paediatric birthmark clinic with a colleague from Great Ormond Street.
Since emigrating to New Zealand, he has developed his skin screening practice and has trained as a Dermoscopist through the University of Graz in Austria gaining the Basic Dermoscopy diploma with distinction in 2015 and he is still studying for certification as an Academic Expert in Dermoscopy through the University of Graz.
In 2006, Adam wrote the inaugural chapter on skin in the world-renowned surgical textbook Bailey and Love and has been lead author for the chapter through the last 4 editions.
Adam has been a Consultant and Specialist Plastic Surgeon since 2004 and has extensive experience and expertise in all aspects of Plastic, Reconstructive, Hand and Aesthetic Surgery. He married a New Zealander and has been practicing in New Zealand since emigrating in 2009 to raise two children here.
Adam has been a Member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons since 2004. He has a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) 1996; the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Plastic Surgery - FRCS (Plast) - after passing the specialist exam in Plastic Surgery administered by the British and Irish Royal Colleges of Surgery in 2003; the Fellowship of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery by examination in 2003 and he was honoured to be admitted to the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons in 2016.
