Rest Homes & Hospitals
Residential care for elderly who are unable to live independently. Referrals may be made through ACC, District Health Boards, Ministry of Health and privately. The first step is to have a needs assessment (see NASC below). There are four levels of residential care – rest home care, hospital, dementia care and specialist hospital/psychogeriatric care. There is a wide range of facilities and services available, so it is wise to identify the features you would like, visit a shortlist of facilities and review each facilities Admission Agreement so that you can make an informed choice.
