ECG: Carried out in clinic and uploaded via cloud and reported by Cardiologist
24 , 48 Hour , 7- and 14-day Holter studies: utilising short studies for medication review or frequent events, research suggests an increase in event capture in longer studies. Compared to 24-hr Holter, longer duration monitoring resulted in a 2x Diagnostic Yield for any clinically significant arrythmias at Day 7 and a >2.5x diagnostic yield at Day 14.( Parikh, P, Grigoriadis, C, Dunn, A. et al. 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure; Measures blood pressure at regular intervals over a 24-hour period. It assess' blood pressure is over 24 hours, including nocturnal dipping, allowing for the possible presence of sleep disorders such as OSA.
Primary disorders can be divided into parasomnias and dyssomnias.
• Parasomnia sleep disorders cause abnormal activities during sleep, such as sleep terrors or sleep walking, bruxism, Restless Legs, Periodic Limb Movement, insomnia and require a higher level study
Level 2 Sleep Study:
performed as an Outpatient that measures airflow, oximetry, chest and abdominal movement, leg movement, ECG, EEG (2 channels), EOG for eye movement, EMG for muscle activity and body position
• Dyssomnia sleep disorders cause trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Perhaps the most well-known dyssomnia is obstructive sleep apnea requiring a Level 3 Sleep Study.
Level 3 Sleep Study: performed as an Outpatient that measures airflow, oximetry, chest and abdominal movement, body position and movement.
