about Dr Chris Ellis

Chris Ellis qualified in 1985 from the University of Southampton, and then trained in Cardiology both at the Wessex Cardiothoracic Centre in Southampton, England and at Green Lane Hospital, Auckland.

He works as a consultant cardiologist half-time at both the Auckland City Hospital and at The Heart Group/Mercy Hospital.

He is an Investigational Cardiologist performing Coronary Angiography, CT Cardiac Angiography, CT Calcium score tests and Echocardiography, with a sub-specialist interest in the Acute Coronary Syndromes and the prevention of CVS Disease. This includes the management of Lipids, CVS Risk and Hypertension.

He has always embraced Cardiology teaching, and writing, and lectures widely in Auckland and further afield. He formed and has been the Chairman of the New Zealand ACS Audit Group from 2000, which has significantly facilitated an improvement in the management of these patients.
