Dr Ryder is a Consultant Dermatologist (skin specialist doctor) and Dermatologic surgeon. She has expertise in the early diagnosis and management of skin cancers - utilising surgical or non-surgical techniques. Emily is also experienced in helping adult patients with inflammatory and immune-mediated skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, hives, eczema, itch (pruritus), dry skin, abnormal scars and psoriasis.
Emily has published research in internationally accredited peer reviewed journals. She presented her research into the use of digital imaging in early melanoma diagnosis at the World Congress of Melanoma. Due to her experience and skills in skin cancer she was selected as specialist representative on the regional Skin Cancer multidisciplinary team, helping to provide the best treatment for individuals with challenging conditions.

Training
Emily is a New Zealand trained Specialist Dermatologist, she completed the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Advanced training in Dermatology in the Auckland and Waikato regions. She undertook a further two-year fellowship in Oxford, UK, gaining additional specialist experience and surgical skills and attaining the Specialist Certificate Examination in Dermatology (MRCP). Due to her expertise in skin cancer, Emily was selected to represent the specialty in several regional multidisciplinary skin cancer teams, providing the best care for patients with complex skin cancers.
She gained further experience as a Consultant Dermatologist at the UKs largest centre for Dermatology, the Royal London Hospital, where she worked with internationally respected dermatologists and gained unparalleled experience of helping patients with rare and challenging skin conditions. Emily attained her medical qualifications at the University of Oxford and achieved a Masters degree in Immunology and Cellular Pathology from the University of Cambridge.
Emily is passionate about teaching was selected to be teaching faculty member for the Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology, training GPs. She received commendation her top-rated student teaching from the University of Oxford and was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine prize for best presentation (as voted by over 300 attendees).
