Otorohanga Medical

Otorohanga Medical is a modern, purpose built facility owned by a community charitable trust. As a low cost access practice we are able to offer reduced fees to our patients and it's free for children aged under 14 years. The three business owners are also GPs within the practice.

Otorohanga Medical has a patient centred focus and strive to do their best to help you achieve your optimal level of health. The practice has made a commitment to never turn away their enrolled patients in an emergency and a duty doctor is available for those requiring urgent on the day assistance. Routine bookings are usually available with your enrolled doctor of choice within one week.

Otorohanga Medical offers a patient portal with an app for your smartphone. This enables you to have access to your test results, allergies and medications 24/7 no matter where you are. Online booking and repeat prescription requests are also available via the patient portal.

Hamilton Radiology have both X-ray and Ultrasound onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays. Ultrasound appointments are to be booked prior to appointment. X-rays are walk in appointments, available between 8am and 3pm.

Pathlab
Pathlab available onsite. Open 8am-4pm Monday-Friday.

Express Pharmacy
Express Pharmacy is open between 8:30am and 5pm.

After Hour Clinics
Otorohanga Medical offers two evening clinics, (Mondays and Wednesdays), and one Saturday morning clinic. Evening clinics are for booked appointments only. Nurse appointments are also available during the evening. Saturday clinics make provision for both booked and acute bookings. After hour fees apply for the Saturday clinic.

Travel Consultation
Travel Consultation including recommendations for vaccinations/immunisations required. These vaccines can also be ordered and administered for a fee. We recommend consultations at least six weeks prior to travel.

Preventive Services
Diabetes checks, Cardiovascular risk assessment, B4 School checks, Cervical smears, Immunisation/Vaccination programmes

Weight Management
Help with weight management, nutrition and exercise for patients and their families. including referrals to Sport Waikato, Bodywise, Nutritionist/Dietician, and Otorohanga Pool and Gym.

Contraception
We offer contraception advice and services including Depo Provera injections, Jadelle and IUD insertions. Free for all patients aged under 25 years. Other funding options may be available - please ask your doctor at your initial consultation.

Skin checks
Liquid nitrogen/cryotherapy, biopsy and excision. Vouchers for reduced fee available for those that meet eligibility criteria.

Counselling Service
Mental Health Evaluation & Screening as well as referral to local counselling services available in the community. Free upon referral by your general practitioner.

Quit Smoking Support
We have a 6 week smoking cessation programme available where the smoker receives a $50 voucher of their choice following successfully quitting smoking. All appointments are free of charge.

As a low cost access practice we are able to offer reduced fees to our patients and doctor's visits are free for children aged under 14 years.

Sexual health consultations are free for under 25 years. CSC holders and other age groups may also be eligible for funding for contraceptive devices.

Free maternity care for those who are eligible for funded healthcare in New Zealand.

Funding options may also be available for excisions and minor surgery.

We offer payments plans for those with financial stress or constraints. Please talk to our friendly reception team if you have difficulty paying for your medical care.
