about Dr Mark Chen

Dr Mark Chen graduated from the University of Otago in 2012. He is a fellow with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, and an accredited skin cancer doctor with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia.

Mark completed postgraduate training with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and is currently enrolled in the Master of Medicine Skin Cancer programme at the University of Queensland. This program is led by world-leading professors and doctors in the field of skin cancer. Mark is deeply motivated and driven to continuously pursue new knowledge and enhance his skills.

Prior to joining Skin Institute, Mark served as a resident doctor at Waitakere, North Shore, and Greenlane hospitals from 2012 to 2014. From 2014 to 2024, he gained extensive experience in large-scale medical centres in West Auckland. During this period, he built a reputation for his expertise in skin cancer diagnosis and management within the community, regularly receiving referrals from both patients and fellow doctors.

In addition to his focus on skin cancer, he has fulfilled various roles including that of a general practitioner, an accredited GP teacher for RNZCGP, a principal investigator of clinical research trials, and the director of a medical center.
