about Mr Jacques Marnewick
My undergraduate medical training was at the University of Cape Town and the world-famous Groote Schuur Hospital, site of the worlds first heart transplant in 1967. Working in South Africa for a number of years, I gained experience in emergency and trauma surgery, as well as paediatric surgery, neurosurgery and even obstetrics. We moved to New Zealand in 2007.
My surgical training in New Zealand covered all common general surgical problems, including thyroid and parathyroid pathology, hernias and diseases of the gallbladder, intestines, breast and skin cancers, including melanoma. After completing my surgical training in New Zealand, I worked as a specialist surgeon in Auckland City Hospital, before completing subspecialty training in Breast, Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery in Auckland and Melbourne, at the Austin Hospital.
