Mr Jon Morrow

Dr Jon Morrow was born in Auckland in 1973 and was raised in Pakuranga. He attended medical school at Auckland University and graduated in 1997. Upon completion of his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBChB), he was employed initially as a house surgeon and then as a surgical registrar, working in all the major hospitals in the Auckland region - Middlemore Hospital, Starship Childrens Hospital, Auckland City Hospital, and Northshore Hospital. During that time, Dr Morrow gained experience in general surgery, adult orthopaedics, paediatric orthopaedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, and urology.

In 2008, Dr Morrow completed his advanced training in general surgery and was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS, General Surgery). He then went on to complete a one year fellowship with further subspecialty training in bariatric surgery (weight loss surgery) at the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital and Holy Spirit Northside Hospital, which are both located in Brisbane, Australia. During this time, he gained expertise in gastric banding, gastric sleeve, and gastric bypass surgery, managing both primary and revisional surgery.

Upon return to Auckland in 2010, Dr Morrow obtained a public appointment at Middlemore Hospital, Counties Manukau District Health Board as a consultant general surgeon, subspecialising in bariatric surgery with an interest in breast cancer work.
