about Mr Richard Harman

Richard Harman is a General Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Thyroid, Parathyroid and Adrenal surgery working closely with endocrinologists in this area (Thyroid Specialists)

Training initially in General Surgery, Richard then completed speciality surgical fellowships at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, Melanoma and Head and Neck Units, and then an Endocrine and Breast Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in the USA. Richard is a very experienced surgeon and has audited and published results with excellent patient outcomes. He has held positions in senior leadership roles for the College of Surgeons, and more recently Head of Division for Surgery at Waitemata Health.
Over the last 10 years he has developed the Breast Clinic at North Shore Hospital and treated over 1000 women with breast cancer in the public and private sectors. Active involvement with research has lead to a thorough understanding of breast cancer treatment, and Richard is the lead surgeon for BreastScreen Waitemata Northland.

Richard is an active member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Breast Section and married with three children.

Richard is also available for consultation for common general surgical procedures such as hernia and laparoscopic gallbladder procedures.
