about Dr Douglas Barclay

Mr Douglas Barclay, Gynaecological Surgeon is a UK trained gynaecologist with a special interest in Minimal Access Surgery including laparoscopic hysterectomy, treatment of endometriosis and hysteroscopy.

He trained in South West England - Bristol and Plymouth, and he has been a Consultant at Middlemore Hospital for 15 years. Douglas is passionate about education. He runs national Laparoscopic Simulation courses for all NZ gynaecology trainees, in addition to sitting on the RANZCOG Simulation Training Advisory Group. He is a director at Ascot Central Womens Clinic where he particularly values working with such a professional, committed, caring and friendly team.

Douglas is a keen road cyclist and mountain biker. He has given up all hope of cycling fast enough to keep up with his young adult offspring, and is now just grateful when they offer to accompany him.
