about Mr Simon Chinchanwala

Professional Profile

Having completed the Orthopaedic Training Scheme of New Zealand in 1998, I underwent fellowships in brachial plexus, hand and wrist surgery in London, UK and Toronto, Canada. On my return to New Zealand, I was appointed as a Hand and Wrist Surgeon on the Regional Hand Unit at Middlemore Hospital in 2001. Due to the ill health of my wife, I cut back my public commitments at Middlemore and now visit North Shore Hospital as a Hand Specialist. I have been in private practice since 2001.

I am a strong advocate of hand therapy and encourage hand therapists to attend my clinics and have a major input in the management of patients undergoing hand and wrist surgery.
