about Dr Chien Kow

Mr Chien Kow is a complex spine and neurosurgeon. He offers spinal surgeries, both minimally invasive approach (MIS) and open surgery, for patients with degenerative spine disease, spinal tumour (intradural and metastasis), spinal infection and spinal trauma. He also offers brain surgery for patients with brain tumour, brain trauma and CSF dysregulation (such as Chiari malformation or normal pressure hydrocephalus).

Mr Chien Kow is passionate in improving the care provided to his patients, and actively conducts clinical researches. He is involved in multiple research projects, and has published multiple peer-reviewed journal articles. His previous published works are listed as below. He is academically affiliated with Auckland University, with research focus in both spinal cord injury and brain tumours.

Mr Kow graduated from Monash University in 2011 with MBBS with Honours. He then completed his neurosurgical training, during which he rotated through major tertiary hospitals including Alfred Hospital and Monash Medical Center in Melbourne, Australia as well as Auckland City Hospital, and was awarded Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeon in year 2022. He then further his subspeciality training with AO Spine North American Combined Spine Fellowship at Foothills Medical Center and University of Calgary, Canada.

Mr Kow strongly believes in maximising patients quality of life, and is passionate in providing the best possible individualized care to patient. He believes in patient empowerment and shared doctor-patient decision making. Last but not least, he believes in timely delivery of medical and surgical care, and will ensure waiting times between referral to consultation to surgery are minimised.

Mr Kow is multilingual and is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Malay.
