Marinoto Womens Health offers comprehensive gynaecological care, led by two highly experienced specialists.

Dr Elliot Mackenzie (FRANZCOG) is a Dunedin-based gynaecological surgeon who uses vaginal, laparoscopic and open approaches. He specialises in mesh-free repair of pelvic organ prolapse, investigation and treatment of bladder leakage (including Bladder Botox), and managing abnormal bleeding, fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis and ovarian cysts. He also offers vNOTES hysterectomy and suspension surgery, a newer keyhole technique performed through the vagina that leaves no abdominal scars, with less bleeding and pain and a faster recovery than conventional abdominal keyhole or open surgery. He works as a specialist at Dunedin Public Hospital, teaches at the University of Otago, and trains RANZCOG registrars, seeing patients from across Otago, Southland, Waitaki and lower Canterbury from Mercy Hospital in Maori Hill.


Dr Kate van Harselaar (FRANZCOG) is a gynaecologist, obstetrician and fertility specialist who consults and operates in Dunedin, Central Otago and Invercargill. An experienced advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgeon, she previously served as Medical Director of Fertility Associates Dunedin and Clinical Director of Intus Specialist Healthcare, and is now a Director of a new private hospital being developed in Dunedin. She also lectures undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Otago. Her particular interests are infertility, recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis, pelvic pain, fibroids/polyps and ovarian conditions. Recognising that gynaecological problems are common and often affect quality of life, she takes a holistic, individually tailored approach, offering support, education and expert guidance, and involving other specialties where needed.
