Dr Kaliopy Matheos is a New Zealand-trained Ophthalmologist with international subspecialist training in Glaucoma and Anterior Segment Surgery.
Dr Matheos completed her Medical Training & graduated from the University of Otago School of Medicine in 2009. After completing her Ophthalmology training in New Zealand, she was appointed as the Clinical Fellow of Glaucoma & Anterior Segment Surgery at the University of Toronto in Canada. Here she gained a vast amount of international surgical experience in both glaucoma and complex cataract surgery under the guidance of an internationally acclaimed glaucoma team.
Dr Matheos is also enthusiastic about progressing ophthalmic care through the field of research. In 2012, she was granted the role of the optic nerve and glaucoma research fellow at the University of Auckland, under the guidance of Professor Helen Danesh-Meyer. She has presented research at several international conferences and published several articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Matheos is a great communicator and has an empathetic approach to her patients. She is passionate about ensuring she provides the most up-to-date and the highest quality of care for her patients.
