about Dr Hamish Love
Dr Hamish Love is a fellowship-trained specialist in Orthopaedic sports surgery. His sub-specialisation is in the arthroscopic treatment of conditions of the shoulder, hip and knee.
Born and bred in Central Otago, Dr Love completed a first class Honours degree in Anatomy at the University of Otago, before completing his medical training in Dunedin and Christchurch in 1997. After internship and a period of travel and adventuring, he completed his orthopaedic specialist training through the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Dr Love then completed fellowship training in Sports Orthopaedics in Canada and the United States, at the University of Calgary Sports Medicine Centre, followed by a travelling fellowship at the University of Stanford Sports Medicine Centre and the Nashville Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. Once back in New Zealand, he spent time working in Auckland at Orthosports, based at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health, prior to establishing Southern Sports & Orthopaedics in Christchurch.
