Dirk von Delft is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon specialising in a broad range of paediatric surgical & urological conditions.
His areas of expertise include minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery of the abdomen & chest, paediatric urology & hypospadias surgery. Day-case surgery includes inguinal hernias, undescended testes, circumcision, skin lesions, tongue tie and congenital neck lesions. He also performs diagnostic cystoscopy, urinary reflux surgery, pyeloplasty, gastro-oesophageal reflux surgery, gastrostomy placement, cholecystectomy & surgery for lung lesions.

Dirk has a particular interest in minimally invasive (keyhole) paediatric surgery, including advanced laparoscopic & thoracoscopic procedures. He is passionate about surgical approaches that support faster recovery & minimise discomfort for children. As such, many day-case procedures are therefore done this way. His special interests include hypospadias, chest wall deformities and surgery of the liver and biliary tract. Dirk is committed to providing high-quality, child focused surgical care & achieving the best possible outcomes for his young patients.

Specialist Training:
Dirk completed his medical degree in South Africa before undertaking surgical training in the United Kingdom & specialising in paediatric surgery in South Africa. He completed advanced fellowship training in minimally invasive laparoscopic & thoracoscopic surgery at Oxford Childrens Hospital, followed by further training in paediatric liver surgery & organ transplantation in Sydney, Australia. More recently 2 proctorships at the Hypospadias Specialty Centre in Dallas have helped him further his experience & skills in hypospadias surgery.
