nib Healthier Joints: Pain Management is a support programme provided by TBI Health to help patients manage chronic pain in their hips, knees, shoulders or spine. Working one-on-one with a coach, patients receive physiotherapy and psychological support to improve their everyday wellbeing. The programme includes a comprehensive rehabilitation programme to proactively manage pain and maintain an active, fulfilling lifestyle supporting members with:
- a personally designed exercise plan
- 9 hours of physiotherapy over 6-12 weeks
- up to 6 hours with a psychologist, if required

nib Health Management Programmes are available at no additional cost to patients who are nib members aged between 18 and 80 years, with a plan that is paid up to date and includes Hospital cover, and who have not enrolled in another programme within the last 12 months.
To join nib Healthier Joints Pain Management Programme, patients must have:
- experienced ongoing spine, hip, knee or shoulder pain for more than 6 weeks, or
- have a diagnosis of arthritis in their spine, hip(s), knee(s) or shoulder(s)
- post operative spine, hip(s), knee(s) or shoulder(s) with clearance from your specialist
To get the most out of the programmes, patients should have at least 12 weeks between starting the programme and their surgery date. This programme is not available to patients whose pain, arthritis or surgery can be support with treatment funded by ACC.
