Pain management is the process of providing medical care that reduces pain. Mild to moderate pain can usually be treated with common analgesic (pain-killing) medications, such as aspirin or paracetamol. For chronic (long-term) or severe pain, opiates such as morphine are often used, sometimes together with analgesics.
