about Dr Megan Cornere

Dr Cornere graduated from the University of Auckland School of Medicine in 1994. She then trained in Internal Medicine specialising in Thoracic Medicine and is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians having gained her FRACP in 2001. With a keen Interest in Immunology and Infectious disease she travelled to the United Kingdom where she studied for a PhD at Imperial College, gaining a fellowship from the British Infection Society . She was then awarded a grant from the Wellcome trust and continued her Research as a Clinical Fellow. Her research was aimed at manipulating the immune response to respiratory pathogens including influenza and tuberculosis. Following this she spent 2 years in San Jose California before returning to New Zealand in 2008 where she has been a Respiratory Physician at North Shore and Waitakere hospitals and Clinical Director of Respiratory Medicine for the Waitemata DHB.

Dr Cornere has expertise in all fields of respiratory medicine and a special interest in lung cancer, chronic cough, recurrent infection and asthma.
