about Dr David Hassan
Dr David Hassan is a vocationally registered General Practitioner with over 16 years of experience, and has dedicated more than 10 of those years to specialising in skin cancer medicine. He is a passionate advocate for high-quality, community-based skin cancer care and is recognised for his commitment to education, diagnosis, and surgical management of skin cancer.
David is a founding member of SunDocs, established in 2018, which focuses on delivering accessible, expert skin cancer services to local communities. In addition to his role at SunDocs, David is a Partner in both SkinSafe and Silverdale Medical, where he continues to expand the reach of high-standard primary skin cancer care.
David is a proud member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia (SCCA) and New Zealand Skin Cancer Doctors (NZSCD), and was awarded the NZSCD Member of the Year in 2024 for his contributions to the field.
He provides private skin consultations and is recognised by major health insurers, including Southern Cross. He also contributes to the public health sector through his skin cancer surgery work with the Waitematā District Health Board
