about Dr Ritesh Patel

Dr Ritesh Patel is a New Zealand trained General Surgeon specialising in Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric, Laparoscopic & Pancreatic Surgery & Endoscopist.
Ritesh undertook core Specialist General Surgical training throughout New Zealand before embarking on sub-speciality Fellowships in Upper Gastrointestinal & Hepatobiliary Surgery at St Vincents Hospital in Sydney & at Monash Health in Melbourne. He also completed a Fellowship in Upper GI Surgical Oncology at the renowned Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.

Ritesh has a passion for teaching and is actively involved in formal teaching with The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons

Riteshs expertise lies in all aspects of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, including surgery for benign & malignant conditions of the oesophagus & stomach, interventional endoscopies, bariatric surgery, minimally invasive & complex (open) surgery for gallbladders & hernias & comprehensive management of reflux disease. He has also acquired experience in the management of pancreatic disease & liver disease.
During his time at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Ritesh has gained hands-on training & experience in the application of robotic surgery, this includes doing robotic Oesophagectomies & Gastrectomies
