Dr SK Wicks is a:

• Honorary Senior Lecturer, Otago University
• Honorary Research Associate, Gillies McIndoe Research Institute (GMRI)

He currently works as a Specialist Upper GI and Hepatobiliary, Laparoscopic and General Surgeon at Southern Cross Hospital, Wakefield Hospital and Wellington Hospital. He is active in teaching medical students at the Wellington School of Medicine where he is a Honorary Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Otago.

Dr Wicks has a special interest in obesity surgery (particularly laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy), hernia surgery, cholecystectomy (gallstone disease), gastro-oesphageal cancer, benign tumours of the upper GI tract, liver and pancreatic tumours.

Mr SK Wicks trained in General Surgery/Upper GI Surgery & Hepatobiliary Surgery in New Zealand & then overseas at Hammersmith Hospital, London; Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital, London; and Queen Elizabeth Liver Transplant Centre, Birmingham
