Dr. Michael Chu graduated medical school from the University of Otago and worked as a junior doctor in different NZ hospitals prior to undertaking a PhD in Surgery at the University of Auckland. Dr. Chu obtained Fellowship (General Surgery) with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon in January 2020. He underwent further subspecialty training in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery (AANZHPBA) at Auckland City Hospital and Westmead Hospital in Sydney. Dr. Chu also concurrently completed his Kidney Transplant Surgery fellowship training in both of these hospitals.
Throughout his training, Dr. Michael Chu has acquired expertise in various surgical approaches, including open and laparoscopic (key-hole) procedures. The surgical approach will be tailored to provide the best outcome for his patients specific needs.
