He graduated from Medicine from Glasgow, Scotland in 1999 and did his higher surgical training in London, Cambridge, Oxford, in the UK, Melbourne (Australia), and Vicenza (Italy). He has been part of the Wellington Neurosurgical team since 2016.

Reuben has a dual qualification in Law from the University of London and is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Legal Medicine. He consults on ethical and medicolegal aspects of surgery and medicine.
