about Dr Paul Tan

Dr Tan is a Respiratory Specialist with decades of experience working in Public Hospitals in NZ.
Graduated from the University of Western Ontario, Canada in 2002. He moved to New Zealand in 2003 trained in Waikato Hospital and Christchurch Hospital.
Paul obtained his FRACP in 2012, following which he worked in Singapore for a few years as a Respiratory Consultant and moved back to New Zealand.
Currently Dr Tan works with Counties Manukau DHB as a permanent staff and contractually with Northland DHB.

Areas of Specialisation: Respiratory & Sleep Medicine with special interest in airways disease, lung cancers, interstitial lung disease & sleep disordered breathing.

Procedure/Services provided: Medical consultation, Pulmonary function Tests (performed by a certified physiologist)

  • Spirometry (pre and post)
  • Spirometry (pre and post) with DLCO
  • Spirometry (pre and post), lung volumes & gas transfers

Home based sleep studies Level 4 oximetry & Level 3 NOX (both performed & scored manually by a certified sleep physiologist)

Dr Tan offers GPs direct access to his testing facility for spirometry (pre and post), spirometry (pre and post) with DLCO and Level 4 oximetry. If patient is insured, these tests will have requested to be by a specialist physician (any) to ensure that the cost is covered by their insurance company.
