Dementia is the umbrella term for symptoms affecting the functionality of the brain. There is no one test for diagnosing dementia, but a series of physical, emotional and cognitive tests. Brain imaging tests such as a

can be used to determine any other disorders that may be influencing the patient’s symptoms or to diagnose the type of dementia. A patient can be referred to a

neurologist

psychiatrist

to help diagnose and manage dementia or Alzheimer’s.
