Occupational Medicine

Occupational medicine is concerned with work and health. This includes providing advice to organisations and individuals regarding safety, health and wellbeing at work. Occupational and Environmental Physicians are experts in organisational strategy and tactics for improving the safety, health and wellbeing of the workplace, work and workers to ensure sustainability and engagement. It may include identifying workplace hazards and ways to minimise or remove them, tailoring work to suit individuals’ health and functional capacity, investigating occupational causes of illness or injury, assisting people to return to work after illness or injury, and providing advice on ability to work and rehabilitation. Occupational medicine specialists offer an independent and objective assessment of an individual, taking into account all available information.
