I studied Medicine at the University of Glasgow and completed an intercalated BSc(Hons) in Genetics before being awarded MBChB with Commendation in 1999. I began specialising in Endocrinology & Diabetes in 2002 & was awarded a PhD for diabetes research in 2007. After completing a 1 year Fellowship at the Garvan Institute for Medical Research & St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney I moved to New Zealand in 2010
