About Southern Cross Hospitals Ltd (National Office)
Southern Cross Hospitals operates New Zealands largest network of private surgical hospitals, and delivers a wide range of surgical, medical and rehabilitation services to communities across the country.
New Zealand wide, our hospitals and nurses have been setting benchmarks in patient satisfaction in surveys within Australasia, and were passionate about being a leader in our sector in quality, safety and overall patient experience.
Since we began operating in 1979, Southern Cross Hospitals has grown in terms of size, sophistication and scope of services offered. Our national network provides access to treatment for around 75,000 patients each year, playing a vital role in New Zealands private elective surgery market, and making a significant contribution. We work with health insurers and other funders and organisations in both the public and private health sectors to increase access to quality healthcare.
Our network consists of ten wholly-owned hospitals, as well as ten joint ventures operated in partnership with leading healthcare providers. Around 1,000 surgeons and anaesthetists use our advanced, sophisticated operating theatres and modern specialist consulting and treatment centres.
Our business is owned by the Southern Cross Health Trust, a charitable trust which exists to benefit all New Zealanders. Although we operate independently, we are a part of the Southern Cross Healthcare group of businesses.
Southern Cross reaches around one million people each year, as members, patients and policyholders, and the focus, size and experience of the group gives it an important role in the countrys health sector.
