An Allergist/Immunologist is trained to prevent, diagnose, manage, and treat allergic disease. An allergy is a hypersensitivity disorder of the immune system. Allergic reactions occur when a person’s immune system reacts to normally harmless substances in the environment. A substance that causes a reaction is called an allergen. These reactions are acquired, predictable, and rapid. Common Allergies/ Immune System Disorders include Allergic reactions to Animals, Food, Medications, Environment, or Asthma, Eczema, Hay Fever, Sinusitis, Inherited Autoimmune Disorders and Immune Disorders causing frequent infections (ie pneumonia, thrush).
