Aviation Medicine
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) requires all
pilots
,
aircrew
and
air traffic controllers
in New Zealand to have an
Aviation Medical
performed by a
CAA Designated Medical Examiner
. These assessments usually form part of pilot and aircrew registration or certification requirements. The Medical Examiner is normally a medical doctor or specialist that has undertaken additional training in Aviation Medicine and Aviation Physiology. The frequency of the Aviation Medical will vary for the different types of licence (private or commercial) and the age of the pilot.
