About Elliston Clinic

THE ELLISTON CLINIC:

Now primarily based in Oakura Taranaki, at the Elliston Clinic we aim to provide professional and considerate assessment, treatment and support to people suffering from mental health disorders, psychological distress and emotional, relationship or stress-related problems.

THE CLINICIANS

The clinicians consist of a husband and wife team:-

Dr. Roger Elliott is a psychiatrist with additional post-fellowship training in psychotherapy and supervision.

Sharon Elliott (Whiston) has a background in psychiatric nursing and has worked as a psychotherapist since 1990.

Special Interests

We are now accepting new referrals just in Taranaki. (Though we continue to provide a service for our existing customers in the Auckland area from our new clinic in Drury). A referral to Roger as the psychiatrist, would generally involve a psychiatric interview, with resulting recommendations for any further investigations or treatments (e.g. medications, psychotherapy, counselling or a combination of these) depending on what is indicated or wished for.

A referral to Sharon as the psychotherapist/counsellor, would also involve an initial interview to ensure both an understanding of the problems and mutual treatment expectations.

In addition, we believe that by using both clinicians in their different roles as a treatment team (when this is needed), we are able to promote an integrated, holistic assessment and treatment approach to mental health problems.

Both clinicians have training in supervision and offer a service to other health (and related) professionals.
