about Macular Degeneration NZ

What is macular degeneration or MD?
The macula is the central part of the retina at the back of the eye.
The retina processes all vision.
The macula allows you to read, recognise faces, drive; just about everything.
Macular degeneration causes progressive macular damage & can lead to vision loss & blindness. 1 in 7 people over 50 will get macular degeneration.

services

To provide information, education, awareness, support & representation for people at-risk of and living with macular degeneration, their carers & service providers.
This is done through patient resources & information, seminars & learning, 0800 Helpline, referrals to support services, & advocacy.

MDNZ provides these services for free throughout New Zealand.
