Orbital & Lacrimal Surgery
Orbital and lacrimal surgery is a part of Oculoplastic surgery, which includes a wide variety of procedures concerning the orbit (
eye socket
), eyelids, tear ducts and tear drainage system (the
lacrimal system
), and the face. It may also deal with reconstruction of the eye and associated structures. Common problems that require surgery include: facial fractures and injuries; tumours; blocked tear ducts; eyelid drooping; birth defects; thyroid eye disease (Graves); disorders of facial movement; and skin cancer.
